The Confused Brothers Band is a Minneapolis, Minnesota based Blues/Funk/Rock group spawned from the musical collaborations of brothers Chad and Luke Hofland. The Hofland brothers have been performing in different groups since they were young teenagers growing up in Central Minnesota. Both helped start local bands that helped them gain experience in performing and touring while gaining a fanbase that has carried over from group to group. Through happenstances unknown to most and strongly debated amongst scholars, Lucas Geraci became a permanent member of The Confused Brothers. Lucas and Luke met at college where they performed in the University Jazz ensemble and local bands while continuing to gain a foothold in the music industry. After relocating the band headquarters to Northeast Minneapolis, the three Brothers embarked on several music endeavors before establishing the coalition of The Confused Brothers Band. After only a handful of shows as a three-piece, the group gained the musical talents of two new members – trumpeter Miles Uhrich and trombonist John Carlson. With the addition of brass, the sound of The Confused became less confused and far more reminiscent of classic 70’s funk groups such as The Meters and Average White Band. Hints of New Orleans style big band and heavier rock riffs sprinkled into the mix help to modernize their sound.
The Confused Brothers pride themselves on a wide range of styles and sounds; from reggae to funk/soul, jazz to rock, while still keeping their blues roots alive. The Confused Brothers are a strong proponent of live collaborations and making music inclusive, and to that end have started several Open Jam Nights throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul areas. After having recently released a four song, self-titled EP, they are currently on tour around the Midwest.
“We are a coalition of musicians known as The Confused Brothers. If you are confused and you
enjoy funky rock music, a.k.a ‘electric church music’, join us.”
