Based on James Agee's evocative Southern poetry, Samuel Barber's lush and lyrical rhapsody, Knoxville: Summer of 1915, captures the voice of a child, as does Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 4 in G major, famed as a youngster's view of heaven. Both pieces come to vivid life courtesy of lyric soprano Megan Chenovick, conductor Wesley Schulz and the Seattle Festival Orchestra at Plymouth Church. The award-winning Chenovick is equally at home on the opera, musical theater or concert stage, and has appeared in major roles with companies throughout the state.
