The acclaimed early-music quintet known as Agave Baroque brings its exploration of revolutionary 17th-century violinist Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber to St. John's Episcopal Church in Ross. A Bohemian-Austrian composer and violinist, Biber was a total rock star in the 1670s, enjoying fame and prestige for his "modern" style of playing. He actually invented new tunings for the violin, developed innovative harmonies and mixed the secular and sacred into what was known as a stylus fantasticus ("fantastical style"). Along with several pieces by Biber, including his famed Harmonia artificioso-ariosa, Agave is set to perform works by David Pohle, Jakob Kremberg and Georg Reutter der Ältere.
