Trickster Sister is proud purveyor of their own special blend of original, women-powered Americana music. The band is comprised of two sisters, Marion Halliday (guitar, vocals, songwriting) and Jane Halliday (violin, banjo uke, vocals),and their sister-in-music, Donna Bostock (bass/percussion, vocals). This all-women group brings together their diverse talents to create an enticing blend of indie, folk, and bluegrass musical styles, with lush vocal harmonies over-top.
A primary focus of the band is to cultivate original music written by Marion who has found great inspiration in the rich 400-year history of Philadelphia. She has crafted for the band a number of modern folks songs based on historical landmarks such as Eastern State Penitentiary, Laurel Hill Cemetery, the Eternal Flame Memorial at Washington Square, and Lemon Hill. She has also written a series of contemporary, contemplative songs that reflect on the challenges we face in our modern world - from the heroine and meth epidemic decimating rural America, to the challenges of loving someone with depression, to dealing with the struggles of failed relationships - her music spans a range of topics and appeals to a variety of listeners.
