Oregon’s Economic Temperature, PERS, and the Budget

Thu, Nov 09 - 4:00 pm

Oregon’s Economic Temperature, PERS, and the Budget Mark McMullen, State Economist and Director of the Oregon Office of Economic Analysis, will discuss Oregon's economic challenges. His office provides objective forecasts of the state's economy, tax revenue and population to advance the goals of the Governor, Legislature, state agencies, and the public. Oregon experienced faster economic growth than most other states coming out of the 2007 recession, but significant challenges lay ahead. The budget pressures on the state continue to grow as the taxes collected fail to keep up with revenue needs and PERS. Join W2D and Mark McMullen for an overview of Oregon’s economic outlook and how the budget and PERS will affect the lives of Oregonians going forward. Prior to joining OEA in the fall of 2010, Mark served as Director of Consulting at Moody’s Analytics, and was a researcher with the Congressional Budget Office.
