Red Star Brass is a professional chamber ensemble based in the Chicagoland area. Originally formed while studying at DePaul University, Red Star has become one of Chicago's premiere brass quintets. From its inception, Red Star has been determined to deliver the quality of a classically trained chamber group without pretense. Red Star Brass first brought its bold sound to the Lincoln Station bar sparking partnerships with groups throughout Chicago's music scene. Red Star went on to found the Kitchen Sink Urban Chamber Series, a music service taking classical music to Chicago's urban landscape with innovative programming spanning all genres. Equally at home in both beer and concert halls, Red Star is changing the expectations of a brass quintet. Shows at venues such as The Tonic Room, St. Clement's Cathedral and the Kitchen Sink Cafe showcase Red Star's appetite to push the boundaries of performance practice for the brass quintet. In addition, Red Star Brass has a strong desire to reach out to the next generation of brass players. Red Star has led masterclasses and performances for schools throughout the Chicagoland area including Wolcott School as well as Glenbard East High School's Band Boot Camp. From inspiring masterclasses to engaging programs, Red Star Brass masterfully performs every genre and seeks to bring the brass quintet to new heights.
