The Full Watts Band is a New York City-based family of musicians who aim to preserve and celebrate the music of ska, rocksteady and reggae produced on the island of Jamaica from the mid-60s through the mid-80s.
Throughout these years, the Jamaican music industry has produced hit after hit at a phenomenally high rate, all while cultivating a prolific moment in musical history where virtually every individual, whether lead singer or session musician, would infuse their own personal mark on the music, contributing to its many styles.
This inspiring library of recordings is the pool from which our repertoire is curated. Immaculate and soulful tunes like Queen of the Minstrels, Girl, I’ve Got a Date, Perfidia and Love You Forever originally recorded by The Eternals, Alton Ellis, Marcia Griffiths and Carlton and the Shoes make up just some of the choice selections performed by the Full Watts Band.
Our 10-piece ensemble is comprised of a trio of singers dedicated to 3-part harmony, lead and rhythm guitars, keys/organ, drums, bass and horns. All members have spent years appreciating this beautiful music through listening, playing and seeing our legends perform in concert. Because the music is purely Jamaican and created by those who which we owe all praises and dedication, it is the ambition of the Full Watts Band that our performances are a fulfillment of love, humility and gratitude for a music that continues to inspire and move hearts and souls of all people across the world.
